We take the protection of your data and the observance of your fundamental right to data protection seriously. To ensure that you feel safe when using our site, we strictly adhere to legal regulations when processing your data and should like to inform you herein about how we collect and use data. The following privacy policy clarifies which of your data we collect on our website, along with which of those data, and in what manner, we process and use, as well as whom you may contact with issues pertaining to such matters.

1. Scope of applicability

This privacy policy applies only to the website www.oelz.com operated by Rudolf Ölz Meisterbäcker GmbH & Co KG (henceforth referred to as "Ölz" or "we"). It does not apply to websites unconnected with this privacy policy, or to those operated by third parties, e.g. Facebook. We recommend that you read through the privacy policies published on this website.Privacy policies facebook.

By using this site you confirm that you agree to the following terms of our privacy policy.

You may withdraw your agreement to this privacy policy or individual points contained therein by contacting us in writing (see item 9).

2. Collection, processing and use of personal data

Personal data refers to information that can be used to identify a person, i.e. information that can be traced back to a person. This includes the name, e-mail address, telephone number and any user-related data that you have shared with us during registration.

We only collect, use and share personal data where this is permitted by law, or you have consented to data collection. We collect information directly from you based on information you have provided to us and automatically using various technologies when you use our online applications.

2.1 Collection, processing and use of personal data

We collect, store and process your data during the entire purchase transaction, for website administration, statistical evaluations, for our own marketing purposes (see item 2.2) as well as to prevent criminal activity and fraud, or to detect security threats. We also use your data for the following activities in particular:

  • to provide access to and improve our service and support
  • to contact you in relation to any issues you have raised;
  • for data analysis;
  • for internal controls;
  • to develop new products;
  • to determine user trends;
  • to prevent and detect security threats, fraud and other malicious activities;
  • to comply with statutory obligations and implement our agreements;
  • to generate figures and statistics on access behaviour (e.g. number of times a particular page has been accessed, the total number of times a customer has accessed the site and which page, and changes in the frequency of access)
2.1.1 Log files

When you visit our website www.oelz.com log files are stored as standard for technical purposes. These datasets include the following data: Date, time, name of page accessed, IP address, the website from which you are visiting us (referrer URL), type of browser and operating system. We also automatically collect and store information on the pages you visit. Such data is stored and analysed anonymously. Anonymous means that we cannot attribute the data to an identified or identifiable natural person at all or without unreasonable efforts in time, cost and capabilities.

2.1.2. Sharing data with third parties

Your personal data will be shared with third parties only insofar as it is lawful (to implement or comply with a statutory duty, a law or compulsory procedure, to detect and prevent security threats, fraud or other malicious activities, to protect or assert our rights and our property, or to protect the personal safety of our employees and third parties), for marketing purposes, or if you have given prior consent.

It may be the case that third-party content is embedded in our website, e.g. Google Maps, YouTube videos, RSS feeds or graphics from other websites. The providers of such content always require access to the user's IP address. Without an IP address, it is not possible to send the content to the user's browser. An IP address is therefore necessary for such content to be displayed. We make every effort to ensure we only use content from providers that use your IP address solely to deliver content. We have, however, no control over whether third parties store your IP address for statistical purposes, for example. We shall inform you should we become aware of such practices.

Some of your personal data will be stored by third-parties in the United States such as Google, Facebook etc. and disclosed by them for certain purposes. We advise you to read through their respective privacy policies to discover the reasons why your data may be disclosed.

2.2 Use of your data for marketing purposes

We also use your data for the following purposes: to inform you about certain products or marketing campaigns, to recommend products or services that may be of interest to you, to invite you to participate in surveys or similar advertising campaigns:

Product recommendations

Additionally, we use your data as part of marketing campaigns - irrespective of whether you have subscribed to a newsletter - to provide information on certain products and services that may be of interest to you. Our marketing campaigns involve sending you information via e-mail or by post. Your consent to receive such correspondence is voluntary and can be withdrawn at any time. You can, of course, withdraw from such e-mails by clicking the unsubscribe link provided in every newsletter or by notifying us in writing using the contact details (e.g. e-mail, fax or letter) listed in item 10.

3. Cookies and targeting

Consent to cookies is not required to visit our website. Please be aware, however, that if you choose not to allow cookies, then certain features of our website will not function or may have limited functionality.

3.1. What are cookies?

Cookies are text files that are saved locally on your computer and which can be sent back to the web server if you return to the website again.

We mainly distinguish between two types of cookies; session cookies which are deleted as soon as your close your browser and temporary/permanent cookies which are saved for a longer period or for an unlimited duration on your data storage media. By storing such data, we can design our website and promotions to suit you and make it easier for you to use our website, e.g. by saving some of your information so that you do not have to repeatedly enter it into our system.

We also use web beacons on your browser. Web beacons are a type of third-party cookie which can be placed on a website or in an e-mail (newsletter) to analyse visitor behaviour on a website or clicks in a newsletter.

3.2. What cookies does Ölz use?

Most of the cookies we use are deleted automatically from your hard drive at the end of the browser session (i.e. they are session cookies). We also use cookies that remain on your hard drive. Upon a return visit to our website, it will automatically recognise that you have already used the website and load your setting and information preferences. These temporary or, as the case may be, permanent cookies (retention: 1 month to 10 years) are stored on your hard disk and are automatically deleted once the specified period has elapsed. These cookies serve, in particular, to make our site more user-friendly, effective and secure. Thanks to such data files, it is possible, for example, to view information on our site which is specific to your interests. The sole purpose of such cookies is to tailor our promotions as much as possible to your needs and ensure you can surf our website with as much ease as possible.

3.3. Which data are stored in cookies?

Ölz cookies store only pseudoanonymous data. When the cookie is activated, it is assigned an identification number, but your personal data cannot be traced back to this identification number. Your name, IP address or similar data which would allow you to be directly identified, are not stored in the cookie.

3.4. Re-targeting

Our webpages use re-targeting technologies in certain circumstances. The use of such technologies enables us to offer you more interesting services online. This technique makes it possible to target our advertising on our partners' websites to Internet users that have already shown an interest in our shop and products. Such advertising material can be integrated into partner websites using cookie technology and analysis of previous user behaviour. This type of advertising uses only pseudoanonymous data. Cookies are used to collect, store and use your usage data. Furthermore, your data continues to be stored in cookies after the browser session has ended and can, for example, be recalled on future visits to the websites.

3.5. How can you prevent cookies from being saved?

In your browser settings, you can opt for cookies to be stored upon your consent only, thus preventing cookies from being stored again in future. If you would like to accept cookies from Ölz, but not from our service providers or partners, you can select the 'Block cookies from third-parties' setting in your browser. The help feature on the menu bar of your web browser will show you how to reject new cookies and disable cookies already received. If you block cookies, it is possible that you will no longer be able to register, log-in or use our website services in full.

You can also manage cookies for online advertisements on the American site http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or the European site http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/.

I consent that Ölz may use the data I have provided, as well as pseudoanonymous user data, for the purposes of presenting me with customised advertisements and/or special offers and services.

4. Web analytics

Google Analytics

This website uses Google (Universal) Analytics by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Pkwy, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

Google (Universal) Analytics uses technologies that allow the analysis of website use, such as cookies, i.e. text files that are stored on your computer. Information on website use gathered with the aid of cookies is generally transmitted to a Google server in the USA, where it is stored. This website uses IP anonymisation, meaning that within European Union member states or states that are parties to the European Economic Area, your IP address will be truncated prior to transfer. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transferred to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. The IP address shared by your browser for Google Analytics activities cannot be associated with any other Google data. You can also prevent Google from using a cookie to access and process data on your website use (including your IP address) by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de. You can also click on this link as an alternative to the browser plugin to prevent Google Analytics from accessing further information on this website. It will store an opt-out cookie on your end device. If you delete your cookies, then you must click on the link again.

For further information on the terms of use and data privacy see https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/

By using this website you agree to have your data processed by web analytics service providers in the manner and for the purpose explained above.

5. Access to your personal information and its accuracy

Under data privacy law, you have the right to be informed of the data held about you at no charge and are also entitled to correct, block or delete data.

We take your data privacy very seriously. Please send your request by e-mail or post and provide information to allow us to uniquely identify you, as described in item 9, to ensure that your personal data is not disclosed to third parties.

6. Data security

We use a variety of data security measures to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of personal data.

7. Changes to this privacy policy

Should we make any amendments to this privacy policy, we will publish the updated version along with the date it was last updated here.
